EXCOR® Corrosion Research GmbH

EXCOR Corrosion Research GmbH with its headquarters in Dresden was founded in 1996. Today 18 employees work and do research at the location in Dresden. EXCOR Corrosion Research is headed by  Dr. Faßbender.

The developed systems and processes serve to prevent and analyse damage. This is achieved with chemical trace element analysis and presumes extensive experience in the fields of materials science and chemistry in their broadest sense. The services of EXCOR corrosion research include the following fields:

• Development of quality standards, control of and adherence to these QA standards in the manufacture of EXCOR products
• New and further development of active substance systems
• Process analysis for assessment of corrosion protection systems at the users’
• Material damage analysis
• Climatic packaging test, e.g. in accordance with wet-bulb temperature alternating climate  (DIN EN 60068-2-30 and others)
• Assessment of the effectiveness and tolerance of technical cleaners and preservatives
  • Chemical analysis of aqueous and/or aqueous/organic media
  • Determination of the corrosion protection properties in accordance with DIN 51360, Part 2
• Chemical analyses
• Testing the VCI action in accordance with TL 8135-0002 or TL 8135-0043
• Determination of the water vapour permeability in accordance with DIN 53122, Part 2
• Chemical analyses
• 1003 (2000) and STM D 1044 (2003)
• Testing mechanical properties:
  • Tensile-strength test in accordance with DIN EN ISO 527-3/2/200
  • Dart drop impact test in accordance with ASTM D1709/A
• Fire test in accordance with DIN 4102-B2
• Measurement of surface resistance in accordance with  DIN IEC 93

These modern facilities are primarily used by the automobile industry and their supplier industry for damage and process analysis, testing of corrosion protection performance from packaging systems and processing of customer-specific corrosion protection concepts and are available for all of EXCOR GmbH’s customers to use.
